THE POOL AREA

Whether you feel like relaxing or having fun in the water, our scenic, spacious pool area has been designed with the whole family in mind.

After a refreshing dip, unwind on one of the sun loungers dotted around the pool for a spot of sunbathing or just to take it easy. Our pool area is the perfect place to come for relaxing good times deep in the Landes countryside.

LAKE AUREILHAN

On a walk around Lake Aureilhan, why not head to one of the lifeguarded beaches for a restful break amidst natural surroundings. For your fill of thrills in the great outdoors, you’ll find a range of water sports to try, including paddleboarding and kayaking.

THE BEACHES AT MIMIZAN

Mimizan Plage is a 30-minute cycle ride away, along one of the cycle paths, or a 15-minute drive away. Once there, you’ll be able to blow away the cobwebs on the sweeping Atlantic coast beaches: Courant and Garluche are ideal for families looking for relaxation and leisure; the Nord and Sud beaches are perfect for surfing enthusiasts; and Lespecier beach is considered the wildest beach in the Landes region.

Plage du Courant

Located 15 minutes from the campsite, this is the perfect beach for a day out at the seaside with the kids. They’ll love paddling at the water’s edge, collecting shellfish and building sandcastles.

Water sports

Water sports lovers are bound to find something that floats their boat among the various options available on the lake’s crystal-clear waters, including canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding, Hawaiian outrigger canoeing and pedalos.

Walking and cycling

A number of trails around the campsite offer the chance to explore the region’s diverse scenery: see lakes, the ocean or traditional villages, or lose yourself deep in the Landes forest. Keen walkers will certainly be kept happy (whatever their ability level)!

Exploring the region

Make the most of the myriad local markets to sample some of the region’s specialities: magret (duck breast), foie gras, locally caught fish or regional wine.

STANDARD AND ELECTRIC BIKE HIRE

Head out along the cycle path which takes you to Mimizan-Plage in 30 minutes.
The campsite is ideally located just a short ride away from the Vélodyssée cycle path, a fantastic long-distance route that crosses Brittany and follows the Atlantic Ocean down to the Basque coast, offering the chance to see a variety of scenery.

TREASURE HUNT WITH TERRA AVENTURA

Terra Aventura is a fun activity that combines walking, exploring natural and cultural heritage, observational skills and navigation. Anyone can do it, and it’s an exciting way to go sightseeing with family or friends. This free treasure hunt is based on geocaching and can be played using your smartphone. There are two trails nearby:

• L’Arche de Zahan (Zahan’s Ark): in Aureilhan, not far from the campsite
• Frère Zacqu’ dormez-vous (A Vacation for Zacquet!) in Pontenx les Forges.

With its calm waters and pine-lined shores, this lake is perfect for family activities: paddle-boating, paddling or just relaxing by the water. You’ll be enchanted by the flower-lined path that runs along its shores, ideal for a bucolic stroll offering unique views over the landscape. Just a few kilometres away, the Atlantic awaits you with its endless beaches of fine sand and legendary waves.

Mimizan, nicknamed the ‘Pearl of the Côte d’Argent’, combines seaside charm with Landes traditions. Its typical markets, summer events and natural heritage make it a destination not to be missed. Take the opportunity to discover the richness of the Landes forest by venturing out on the cycle paths that wind between the dunes and the pines. When it comes to gastronomy, let yourself be seduced by the local specialities: foie gras, duck breast, Landes pastis, all accompanied by a fine Gascony wine.

Lake Aureilhan

Lake Aureilhan extends across several municipalities, including Mimizan, Aureilhan, Saint-Paul-en-Born and Sainte-Eulalie-en-Born.
Water sports lovers are bound to find something that floats their boat among the various activities available. There is a lifeguarded swimming area on the shores of Aureilhan, and the lake is also very popular with fishing enthusiasts hoping to catch carp, pike, eel and zander.

Mimizan Plage

Mimizan Plage, just a 15-minute drive away, is a popular spot for relaxing as a family, with its lifeguarded swimming areas, kids’ clubs and promenade bustling with shops and restaurants. Central beach, for surfers and fishing enthusiasts, kid-friendly or a wilder setting – there’s a beach for everyone.

Festivals and other events

From May to September, the Aureilhan region is abuzz with local events open to everyone, including jazz or flamenco festivals, al fresco meals, funfairs, children’s games and fireworks.

THE BEST WALKS

Promenade Fleurie trail

Distance : 300m circuit
Time: 45 mins – Suitable for all

The Promenade Fleurie, located on the edge of Lake Aureilhan – Mimizan, is known for its lovingly maintained flower beds, colourful borders and landscaped elements that make it such a delightful trail to walk along. There are over 400 species of flowers and shrubs to admire. This place is also a favourite hangout for egrets, herons and ducks.

Section of the Voie littorale St Jacques de Compostelle

Distance: 5 miles – Time: 2 hours
Difficulty level: easy

This route follows former sections of the Voie Littorale (Coastal Way) pilgrimage route, also known as the Voie des Anglais (Way of the English). It starts in Le Verdon (Gironde) in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region and converges with other routes to Santiago de Compostela via the Somport pass in the Pyrenees. Walkers can join this route in Mimizan, around 620 miles from Santiago de Compostela. At the end of this small section is Lespecier beach, where you’ll be able to drink in gorgeous views over the ocean and the forest. The route is available at the Mimizan tourist office, located in Mimizan Plage.

A varied circuit that shows you two fascinating sides of Mimizan. There’s its historical side, with stops like the bell tower porch, the wash house, the stone markers known as the Bornes de Sauveté and Château de Woolsack. And then there’s its geographical features, with the dunes, forest and plants highlighted, as well as Lake Aureilhan Mimizan.

This village near Mimizan, with its picturesque lake, is perfect for relaxing by the water and enjoying outdoor activities.
There are lots of walking trails around the lake amidst beautiful scenery. The village comes alive with local festivals and farmers’ markets in the summer.

Mimizan

6.2 miles away

Divided into Mimizan-Bourg and Mimizan-Plage, this seaside resort is known for its vast fine sand beaches and surf-worthy waves. We love its laid-back vibes and natural setting, with pine forests on one side and ocean on the other.

Lit-Et-Mixe

This charming village surrounded by forest, with its picturesque church, also boasts beaches popular with surfers and unspoilt natural surroundings combining pine forests and coastline.
