What a treat to be able to walk to the ocean, just a hop, skip and a jump from the campsite!

Savour the pleasure of swimming in the ocean, a mere 20 metres away from the campsite! Huttopia Côte Sauvage – Ile de Ré campsite features direct access to Basse Benaie Beach. An outstanding location for taking full advantage of the ocean: sunbathing on the beach, splashing around in the waves or going for a sunset stroll…

For families, there are many beaches with lifeguards a few miles from the campsite: Plage Sud in Rivedoux-Plage (5 km), Gros Joncs (8 km), Les Gollandières (9 km), Peu Ragot (15 km), and the list goes on.

Wine for Beginners

Stéphane and his team offer an experience that will really bring to life the different terroirs of the Ile de Ré: Cognac, Pineau and the various local wines. After a tour of the distillery and cellars, you’ll have the chance to taste wines and spirits accompanied by local dishes like charcuterie, cheese and chocolate!

Discovering the Plants of the Salt Marshes

La Ferme des Baleines oyster farm in St Clément des Baleines, to the north of the island, set in a protected natural area, offers a peaceful and revitalising setting for this experience.
Coralie will guide you through this unique place where you’ll learn all there is to know about the plants of the salt marshes.

La Rochelle is only a few miles from the campsite. Its city centre, maritime museum and aquarium are all worth the trip and are delightful when the weather is unpredictable.

Ars-en-Ré, named one of the most beautiful villages in France, is worth the trip to see its streets in bloom and its salt marshes. You will also enjoy visiting La Flotte and its medieval market or roaming the alleyways of Sainte-Marie-de-Ré, just a few minutes from the campsite…

Retrace the history of the island’s salt marshes through an exhibition and a guided tour of the marshes. This is a great opportunity to gain a better understanding of how salt is harvested and to observe the local flora and fauna.

Phare des Baleines lighthouse

The lighthouse’s 257 steps will lead you to the top, where you can admire an unforgettable view of the island. You can also visit the Old Tower and its museum to learn all about the history and heritage of lighthouses. At the end of your visit, be sure to go for a walk through the grounds, accompanied by birdsong…
