If you’d like to explore further afield, one of the largest prehistory museums in Europe is located in Quinson and an earthenware museum in Moustiers-Sainte-Marie. The village of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie is also well worth the visit in itself!

The Verdon regional park: Unspoiled nature and picturesque villages
Huttopia Gorges du Verdon campsite is located within the Verdon regional park. Considered the most beautiful canyon in Europe, it is classified as a “Grand site de France”. It separates the Préalpes de Castellane from the Préalpes de Digne and offers an exceptional setting for anyone who loves nature, adventure and discovery.
On foot along the many footpaths, by bike or by car along the two roads, you can explore the Verdon Gorges and discover its unforgettable landscapes. The Verdon Gorges are also the ideal setting for anyone who loves adrenaline-fuelled thrills and white water sports. With rock climbing, white-water rafting, canoeing, and canyoning among others, the options are endless.
From Huttopia Gorges du Verdon campsite, you can also discover the charming villages of the Haute-Provence: hilltop villages, cobbled streets, Provencal markets and narrow lanes await you.
The Verdon Gorges
By car:
By road, you can discover the canyon from a different perspective from the top of the cliffs. The road runs along the two banks of the canyon:
The right bank (from Castellane to Moustiers-Sainte-Marie) takes you along the Route des Crêtes where you can enjoy 14 view points offering stunning panoramas of the Verdon Gorges.
The left bank (from Aiguines to Trigance) to the south of the grand canyon, is wilder than the right bank. The views are also breathtaking.
From the water:
Known for its emerald waters, there is no better way to explore the Verdon Gorges than from the river, thanks to the array of activities offered: white-water rafting, river trekking, canyoning, river boarding and canoeing, among others. Endless thrills and spills await you!
With our partner Haute Provence Outdoor, who is present on the campsite, you can choose the ideal activity to set out and discover the Verdon from the water.
By foot:
Put on your walking boots and set out to explore the many footpaths that wind through the Gorges. Among the most beautiful walks is the Blanc-Martel footpath and the Imbut trail.

The Verdon Regional Park has set up a tourist information point in Castellane devoted exclusively to outdoor activities, especially hiking in the Verdon sector. The park wardens will be able to inform you and share the richness of the natural heritage with you.
