Ideal for a getaway exploring Óbidos Lagoon, our bunk beds are a practical solution at affordable prices. Designed to encourage socialising and cosy at the same time, the dorms have a simple feel, friendly and relaxed. Each bed is fitted with a blackout curtain, a light and an individual socket. Toilet and shower facilities conveniently close by!
The whole dorm can be privately hired to be able to enjoy a room to yourselves with 4 beds.

THE SWIMMING POOL

Huttopia Lagoa de Óbidos has a beautiful heated outdoor pool with a paddling pool for younger children. Perfect for swimming a few lengths, basking in the sun and playing with the kids.

Deckchairs and parasols are provided on the deck. The volleyball court is close by, and so is the Café-Comptoir in case you fancy a delicious ice cream between dips!

SWIMMING IN THE OCEAN

Take advantage of the direct access to Óbidos Lagoon, located just a few metres from the Village.
You can also sample the pleasures of the Atlantic Ocean and try your hand at the water sports that have made Óbidos a major Portuguese tourist destination: surfing, kitesurfing, sailing, kayaking, etc.

In summer and on weekends in June and September, you can head to the Café-Comptoir to enjoy simple, quality food and drink:
– Breakfast: bread and pastries from the local bakery and coffee, bread and spreads deal to eat in
– Snack Bar for when you want to sip a cold drink or try a delicious crêpe or ice cream
– Nibbles platters to share with your family or friends
– Pizzas made on-site using fresh ingredients

Near the Village: Óbidos town centre, 15km from Huttopia Lagoa de Óbidos, has everything you’ll need during your stay: local grocery shop, restaurants, supermarket, etc. Go to the campsite reception to get our recommendations.

COOKING IN YOUR ACCOMMODATION

A plancha grill is waiting for you on your deck so you can prepare tasty barbecues and other meals with family or friends.

Missing an ingredient? Head to the small grocery shop at reception for a selection of local products or to the local market in Óbidos (ask at reception for more details).

Yoga

Whether you’re an experienced yogi or a complete beginner, what could be better than a session in the great outdoors to reconnect with what’s really important? A special experience to replenish your energy levels and bring you back into harmony with nature.

Nature walk

Starting from the campsite and guided by an activity leader, set off to see the many natural treasures of the surrounding area, including plants, molluscs and breathtaking scenery.

Birdwatching

Accompanied by our local guide, you’ll head out to spot some of the Óbidos region’s most iconic bird species, like the osprey, the greater flamingo and the Eurasian spoonbill.

FRIENDLY AND JOYFUL EVENING EVENTS

Experience magical moments with Huttopia’s evening events, which take place six days a week throughout July and August. Concerts, shows, storytelling evenings, open-air cinema nights… There’s something for all ages!

LITTLE TRAPPERS PROGRAMME (ages 5-12)

A programme of exclusive activities, run by our activity leaders and designed to nurture your kids’ adventurous side.

They can produce temporary artworks in the Land Art activity, cultivate their Robinson Crusoe side in the cabin construction workshop, push their limits trying out tree climbing and much more.

Activities are run every morning in July and August, except on Saturdays.

ÓBIDOS LAGOON: PICTURESQUE VILLAGES AND THE ATLANTIC OCEAN

Wildlife, plants and local heritage at Óbidos Lagoon

Óbidos Lagoon, located between Peniche and Nazaré, is considered to be the largest lagoon in Portugal. This vast expanse of calm saltwater is joined onto the Atlantic Ocean. The unspoilt natural environment is also home to an abundance of different wildlife, including a number of species of birds.

Óbidos Lagoon is a prime spot for kitesurfing year round. The calm waters and regular wind provide enthusiasts with optimal conditions, especially between May and late August. There have always been a large number of fishing villages around Óbidos Lagoon. The main ones are Nadadouro, Vau, Bon Sucesso and Foz do Arelho.

The medieval town of Óbidos

17 km

Walk along the walls of this town, known for its medieval castle, to admire the panoramic view of the traditional houses, and wander along the charming Rua Direita with its bookshops, restaurants, churches, etc. Don’t forget to try the local speciality: Ginja d’Óbidos, a liqueur sweetened with cherry.

Foz do Arelho

20 km

North of the town, wooden walkways allow you to walk along the cliffs without damaging the wild vegetation. Take a trip to discover seven breathtaking viewpoints. Perfect for breathing in the sea air off the Atlantic Ocean.

Caldas da Rainha

20 km

Caldas da Rainha is the Portuguese capital of ceramics, and its name means ‘the Queen’s hot springs’, in tribute to the queen of Portugal, who used to come here to treat her ills with the springs. Don’t miss: Dom Carlos park and the Museu José Malhoa, which displays paintings, sculptures and a wonderful collection of ceramics.

Caldas da Rainha

Peniche

30 km

Located to the west of Óbidos, Peniche is famous for its historic fishing port, the largest in Portugal. You won’t want to visit without treating yourself to some freshly caught fish. Peniche is also known for its idyllic beaches and the Berlengas Archipelago nature reserve, listed as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

Nazaré

50 km

Nazaré is one of the most popular seaside towns on Portugal’s ‘Costa de Prata’, thanks to its spectacular landscapes, historic Sitio district and scenic promenade leading along the beach to the fishing port. It’s also a hotspot for surfers in winter, with waves reaching heights of 30 metres due to the largest submarine canyon in Europe.

(Kite)surfing session

The large stretches of sand and particularly well-suited climate make Óbidos Lagoon a favourite destination for (kite)surfers. While you can surf here all year round, the perfect season remains from May to late August.

Bombarral vineyards

Visit the vineyards of Bombarral, only half an hour from Huttopia Lagoa de Óbidos. The winemakers will let you in on the secrets of their process, and of course give you a taste of their fine wines.

Bike ride along the lagoon paths

Set off to explore Óbidos Lagoon by bike! Pedal along the Portuguese coast against the backdrop of the ocean stretching out as far as the eye can see. You can hire electric bikes at reception.
