There are around fifteen hiking trails to be explored around the campsite. Whether you’re looking for a short stroll or a day-long hike, there’s something for everyone. A little further, a host of other paths head off to discover the Cantal and the famous Auvergne volcanoes. The region and its landscapes host many surprises!

WATER SPORTS

Are you keen to try water sports? The water sports on offer at Bort-les-Orgues Lake include pedalo, water skiing, canoeing, kayaking or motorboats. A magical trip along the water.

PANORAMIC BOAT TRIPS

Welcome on board for an unforgettable cruise on a panoramic boat trip. Departing from the Château de Val boarding point, this guided excursion will take you on a visit to discover the treasures of the lake’s history.

ELECTRIC MOUNTAIN BIKES

Explore the Cantal and Auvergne in total freedom thanks to electrical mountain bikes which can be rented directly on site. In the mud, on the sand or a steep climb, you’ll be unstoppable. From the Huttopia Lac de la Siauve Campsite, there are no shortage of paths to discover!

With its supervised beach throughout the summer months, Bort-les-Orgues lake is perfect for an outing with the kids. Swimming, building a sandcastle or enjoying a pedalo, activities on and around the water are not in short supply.

SUMMER LITTLE TRAPPERS

Each morning in summer (6 days a week) at Huttopia Lac de la Siauve, the 5-12 year olds become Little Trappers as they enjoy fun activities always held out in the heart nature: treasure hunts, wooden hut building, Land’Art, and more!

Come and visit the communal area of the campsite to enjoy reading a book or a board game.

And the rainy days are an ideal opportunity to discover the vast array of heritage in and around the region. To learn more about the history of the Haut Cantal, visit the exquisite Château de Val and the Medieval Castle in Auzers.

Around the campsite, a number of museums and exhibits await those who are curious to know more. The Museum of Tannery and Leather (3km), the World’s Butterfly and Insect Museum (13km), the Mining Museum (15km), the Storm and Lightning Museum (11km) or the Maison de la Minéralogie du Massif central (13km), there is something for everyone!

Finally, the Cantal is home to a bustling array of small producers and local artisans. At the end of the day, enjoy a visit to the surrounding farms or local art stores to meet some of the local producers.

SWIMMING AND WATER SPORTS

The Bort-les-Orgues Lake is accessible on foot directly from the campsite. In summer, the beach is supervised, meaning you can enjoy a few laps in total peace of mind with the children. A number of water sports can be enjoyed on the lake including water skiing, pedalo, canoeing, and motor boating. There’s truly something for everyone!
Lover of fishing? Head off to the Rhue valley and its many waterways to enjoy some trout fishing. Amoureux de pêche ? Direction la vallée de la Rhue et ses nombreux cours d’eau pour pratiquer la pêche à la truite.

BURONS DE SALERS

55 km

Visit the essential Burons de Salers, a renowned cheese-maker in Salers as well as the Gentiane Salers liqueur. Guided visits, exhibits, tastings, cheese sales, lunch on site with a unique view over the volcano…One of the most visited sites in the Cantal!

CHÂTEAU DE VAL

5 km

Head off to discover the must-see Château de Val. Dating back to the 15th Century, this is one of the best protected and most remarkable castles in the Haute Auvergne. Overlooking Bort-les-Orgues Lake, following the construction of the lake in the valley, the castle offers a unique viewpoint nestled on a small islet and surrounded by the stunning lake, with its fairytale surroundings!
And the added bonus… The site can be directly accessed by food from the campsite along a lakeside forest trail.

MONT-DORE

41 km

Located at the source of the Dordogne and the foot of the Puy de Sancy, this mountain village owes its reputation to its clean air and thermal springs. It is also the starting point of a host of outdoor activities including hiking, mountain-biking, hand gliding and swimming in volcanic waters.

LA BOURBOULE

34 km

Le Bourbole is a thermal spring resort located in a charming small village nestled in the countryside on the banks of the Dordogne. Make the most of your visit to enjoy real rest and relaxation in the Thermal Springs with its water, massages and care and therapies for the whole body. Choose well-being and relaxation!

SALERS

51 km

Sitting at an altitude of 950 metres in the Regional Nature Park of the Auvergne Volcanoes, Salers is considered as one of the most beautiful villages in France! Explore this village with its unique medieval heritage and incredible ramparts and buildings. Salers is also well known for its fine local produce and as the birthplace of Salers cheese (from the famous cows bearing the same name), as well as the “Carrés de Salers” biscuits, and the Gentiane liqueur. More than enough to awaken your taste buds!

HIKING

There are more than 400 km of paths for hiking lovers in the Haut Cantal. Around Lanobre and Bort-les-Orgues, there are a vast amount of small and medium distance hiking trails allowing you to head off and explore the region’s stunning landscapes. A little further, the Auvergne volcanoes serve up an unforgettable site with their breathtaking landscapes. Climb some of the most impressive peaks in the region: Puy de Sancy (48 km), Puy Mary (57 km), Plomb du Cantal (77 km).

PANORAMIC BOAT TRIPS

Discover Bort-les-Orgues lake in a different way aboard one of the panoramic lake boats. Jump on board for a magnificent guided cruise close to the Bort-les-Orgues dam and the Dordogne caves. A great opportunity to learn more about the region, the lake and their history.

BORT-LES-ORGUES DAM

For fans, this dam was opened in the 50s and is the fourth largest in France. The EDF Area is a fun and educational space which will help you to understand the role of the dam in electrical production as well as flow control. It also offers a breathtaking view over the hydroelectric machine plant!

Why not give the Val Aventure acrobatic trail a go: 7 trails and over 100 workshops to climb to the treetops. The star of the show… The one-kilometre long zip wire which overlooks the lake: thrills and spills guaranteed high above the water!
