The 35 m² Bois Chalet sits facing the Catalan mountains. Its architecture in the traditional style of the region provides a comfortable base in a truly special environment. Make the most of a cosy living area with a fully equipped kitchen. For sleeping, there are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two single beds. In the bathroom, there is a shower, wash basin and toilet. Outside, you’ll find a furnished wooden deck to admire the surrounding scenery. Built completely out of wood, it fits seamlessly into the mountain landscape for a holiday fully immersed in nature.

FAMILY CHALET

The 32 m² Family Chalet boasts a roomy layout designed for enjoying quality time together as a family or with friends. Its spacious living room, with separate, fully equipped kitchen, is the perfect place to unwind after a day out walking. For sleeping, there is one bedroom with a double bed and another with two bunk beds. In the bathroom, there is a shower, wash basin and toilet. Outside, you’ll find a furnished wooden deck to be able to soak up the mountain views and share al fresco meals together. Thanks to its Catalan design, blending wood, comfort and harmony with nature, you are guaranteed an authentic, peaceful experience.

In the afternoon, indulge your sweet tooth with ice creams and cold drinks from the bar. In the evening, put your feet up on the outdoor deck with a drink and share a nibbles platter or a homemade pizza (in the summer), which you can tuck into on-site or take away with you.

In the middle of the campsite, in a stone building typical of Catalonia, the Central Lodge is the perfect place to come and relax and share good times together with family or friends. At Huttopia Barcelona Pirineos campsite, come and relax around our main pool and a small pool specially designed for kids. With sweeping views over the surrounding scenery, the swimming area, nestling within a haven of nature, is ideal for spending your days unwinding, having fun as a family and soaking up the sunshine (check the opening dates).

From the campsite, you can also access the River Torrent de Bosoms directly, via a forest trail, where the shallow water is perfect for cooling off or having a picnic.

Cycle rides in Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park

There are countless cycle paths through Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park that are suitable for all levels, taking in villages like Castellar de n’Hug or the Coll de la Creueta pass, for sensational views and an outing fully immersed in nature.

Berguedà cuisine

Regional specialities combine tradition with a contemporary twist, offering up tasty dishes like patatas enmascaradas (potatoes with blood pudding) or beef with wild mushrooms, not to mention the local variety of corn called blat de moro escairat, as well as local mountain and game meat.

A walk to remember in Catalonia

Embark on this family outing in Vallcebre, for stunning views of Serra del Cadí, Pedraforca and Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park, through a peaceful, child- and dog-friendly environment.

WHAT CAN WE DO IF IT RAINS?

Even when it rains, there are all sorts of activities to do at Huttopia Barcelona Pirineos campsite for a fun time indoors. Head to the Central Lodge to relax with a book or play a game of table football or a board game with your family.

Feel like getting out despite the rain? Pay a visit to the Cercs Mine Museum (less than 4 miles from the campsite) and delve into the history of coal mining through exhibitions, the mine railroad and the 450m Sant Romà gallery for a unique insight into what life was like for the Berguedà miners.

Fancy taking a trip back in time? Have a look round the pre-Romanesque and Romanesque churches in Berguedà, local heritage that has been safeguarded since the twelfth century. Take a tour of iconic monuments the likes of the Monastery of Sant Llorenç or Sant Quirze de Pedret, among the 11 churches open to the public. Some, including Santa Maria de Lillet and Sant Jaume de Frontanyà, can be visited on request. A fascinating glimpse into this region’s faith and history! 

A UNIQUE REGION TO (RE)DISCOVER…

Deep in the Catalan Pyrenees, the campsite lies just 90 minutes outside Barcelona and 40 minutes from France.

Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park

Nestling between the Pyrenees mountains and Pre-Pyrenees foothills, Serres de Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park is a paradise for nature lovers and anyone looking for adventure. Whether you’re walking, cycling, climbing or skiing, you’ll be captivated by its biodiversity, stunning scenery and picturesque villages. In spring and summer, explore its meadows in bloom and look out for wildlife; in autumn, set off in search for mushrooms; and in wintertime, ski to your heart’s content. It is also a site brimming with tradition and heritage.

Bagá

5.4 miles – 10-minute drive

A stone’s throw from the campsite, Bagà is well worth a visit. This is a Roman medieval village to explore on foot, pick up a souvenir, eat local specialities and peruse the marketplace. In July, it hosts a medieval festival with music and entertainment.

Gósol 

12.5 miles – 20-minute drive

Set off on a hike to discover Gosol, a small village where the painter Picasso spent a season and was inspired by the landscape and its special atmosphere.

Castellar de n`Hug 

15.5 miles – 35-minute drive

In this small town, you can discover the Fonts del Llobregat, the sources of the Llobregat, a must on your sightseeing itinerary. The springs emerge directly from the cliffs, creating a powerful waterfall.

Gósol 

12.5 miles – 20-minute drive

Set off on a hike to discover Gosol, a small village where the painter Picasso spent a season and was inspired by the landscape and its special atmosphere.

Castellar de n`Hug

What is there to do in the area with children? Here are some outing ideas for your holiday:

El Tren del Ciment

8 miles – 14-minute drive

This train is over 100 years old, and historically linked the Asland cement plant in Castellar de n’Hug to Guardiola de Berguedà. It runs for just over 2 miles and stops at 4 stations: La Pobla de Lillet, Puebla Centro, Jardines Artigas and Museo del Cemento-Castellar de n’Hug. It can hold up to 25 passengers and the trip takes about 20 minutes. A fun family outing!

Fumanya Dinosaur Interpretation Centre

6.2 miles – 17-minute drive

Come and discover 3,500 dinosaur prints over 65 million years old! A great idea for a family day out.

Pedraforca Adventure Park

8 miles – 16-minute drive

This rope adventure park offers many different circuits and ziplines above the treetops. For ages 3 and up.

Cingles de Vallcebre

Distance: 6.2 miles – Time: 3h
Difficulty level: easy

Family-friendly walk taking in the majestic Vallcebre cliffs. This easy-going route is perfect for bringing the kids and pet dogs along! It features amazing views over the Serra del Cadí mountains and the iconic shape of Pedraforca.

Mining heritage of Cercs

Distance: 4.3 miles – Time: 2h
Difficulty level: easy

Treat your family to an enthralling journey back through Catalonia’s mining history with this family bike ride, perfect for kids and history buffs alike! The route begins at the Cercs Mine Museum, located in the former mining colony of Cercs, a landmark site dating back to the turn of the twentieth century.

Via Ferrata in Vallcebre

Distance: 3.8 miles – Time: 2h
Difficulty level: moderate

If you’re a fan of big thrills and spectacular landscapes, then this experience is for you! Located in the Berguedà mountains, this via ferrata fully immerses you in a breathtaking natural setting.

SPRINGTIME EVENTS

The Patum Festival: a traditional festival of the town of Berga, celebrated during the feast of Corpus Christi. The local community flocks to this event, which has been part and parcel of traditional Berguedà culture for more than six centuries, blending popular medieval theatre, fireworks, music and comparsas. Declared a festival of national interest by the Government of Catalonia in 1983, it has also been listed as a ‘Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity’ by UNESCO since 2005.

SUMMERTIME EVENTS

Gósol Festival – mid-August

Come and experience the traditional Gósol festival, one of Berguedà’s most lively celebrations! For four days, the village puts on activities for the whole family: tournaments for children, shows, parading giants, ‘Ball de les Cosses’ folk dance, concerts and dancing. An event weaving together culture and folklore in a feel-good atmosphere, at the foot of Pedraforca mountain.

Bagà Festival – late July

Every July, Bagà celebrates its Festa Major with music, dancing, concerts, shows, games for children, exhibitions and guided tours, providing a festive and cultural event for everyone.

Guardiola de Berguedà Festival – early August

A week of festivities bringing the whole community together with activities for everyone, entertainment for kids, sporting competitions, concerts, mainstream culture shows, music and DJ performances as well as the traditional Habanera dances and rom cremat (burnt rum) from Barri Bastareny.

AUTUMN EVENTS

Fira del Bolet – The mushroom festival in Berga and Castellar del Riu every October: one of the best-loved festivals in Catalonia has celebrated mushrooms since 1956, with family activities, a local market, culinary demonstrations, Mycological Days and a mushroom competition. The weekend culminates in a sardana and sensational fireworks show.
