You’ll simply love a dip in the pool any season, with the relaxing sound of the wind rustling through the trees.

Huttopia Les Châteaux Campsite has a large indoor heated pool with a paddling pool. You won’t fail to be bowled over by the peaceful family-friendly environment to refresh at the end of a busy day or play with the kids.
The large terrace, its sun loungers and parasols await for a moment of pure relaxation over a book with your feet up followed by a swim. The true meaning of holidays!

Beeswax Candle Workshop

After meeting Coraline, a beekeeper based in Cour-Cheverny, you’ll make your own candle out of beeswax and learn about the different honeys made at her little farm. A fun way to learn about the lives of bees.

Learn about wine-making

Discover what the terroir has to offer and get an introduction to wine appreciation, tasting local wines made using a rare and unique grape variety, Romorantin, introduced to the region by King François I.

Canoe ride down the Loire River

Amidst the many castles, jump aboard a canoe and ride down the longest river in France to discover the plant and animal life along the Loire.

Nature rules at the heart of the Loire Valley and Sologne Forests. Head off to discover nature, at your own pace, and learn about the treasures of the local area.

Walks, cycle rides and horse-back rides

The dense and majestic Sologne Forests, which used to be hunting ground for the Kings of France, are home to remarkable plant and animal life, and hide a number of treasures. In the Autumn, you might even be lucky enough to hear the impressive deer squall. The area is criss-crossed by bike and mountain-bike paths, with almost 500 km of paths, as well as the “Loire Cycle Route” nearby. The relaxing calmness of these immense landscapes of oaks, birch trees, ferns and rivers is also wonderful to visit on horseback,

Water sports on the Loire River

The renown of the Loire Castles is unrivalled. But have you ever though of taking an afternoon out to visit the Loire from the water? From Blois, a host of water sports are available: gently wind down the river on a canoe or climb aboard a paddle-board to discover the landscapes along this river spanning a thousand kilometres. You can also board a traditional Toue Cabanée, which was a traditional fishing boat used on the Loire for a traditional and authentic experience.

Gastronomy and oenology

The Loire Valley is also brimming in gourmet delights. To fully immerse yourself in this way of life, come and taste the famous AOC Cheverny and AOC Touraine-Mesland wines, for a royal gourmet experience! And in terms of the table, you can also enjoy tasting local produce and imagine what it was like to site at the table of the noblemen during the Renaissance with treats such as wild boar with chervil, pike, game and fresh-water fish which were all staples of the Sologne diet.

BIKES AND ELECTRIC BIKES

Roam around the Loire in total freedom on you electric bike. From the Huttopia Les Châteaux Campsite, there are cycle paths and tracks criss-crossing the surrounding areas. A rear-loading cargo bike is also available to hire, as well as trailers: ideal for the whole family!

Playground

Climbing, jumping, running and sliding… children need to be active. The large wooden play area is close the swimming pool terrace.

Paddling pool

Ideal for toddlers, this is the perfect place to have fun with the kids in total safety.

Table tennis

Kids and grown-ups can have fun with this staple holiday sport. Equipment available at the Huttopia Les Châteaux Campsite.

SUMMER LITTLE TRAPPERS

Each morning in summer (6 days a week) at Huttopia Les Châteaux, the 5-12 year olds become Little Trappers as they enjoy fun activities always held out in the heart nature: treasure hunts, wooden hut building, Land’Art, and more!

SPORT AND LEISURE ON SITE

At the Huttopia Les Châteaux Campsite, there is no shortage of activities. As well as the heated swimming pool, kids and grown-ups can enjoy a game of pétanque, volley ball, and the campsite even has two full-size tennis courts (€5/hour)! To explore the paths around the Loire, hire an electric bike directly from the campsite, for a half-day or full-day.

AND WHAT CAN WE DO IF IT RAINS?

The Loire Castle region can be visited whatever the season thanks to its diverse range of cultural and historical activities. The best place to plan a tour of the local museums and castles!

Rainy days are also a chance to take a break from your list of activities and rest at the Central Lodge with a good book, game of foosball or a board game. And also take a dip in the campsite’s indoor swimming pool!

Why not take part in a culinary workshop with famous chocolate maker Max Vauché located at the campsite entrance. Making your own chocolates is the ideal rainy-day activity!

The treasures in the Loire Valley

The Loire Valley, the Loir-et-Cher and Sologne region

The Loire Valley is the region in France with the largest number of castles. Their stones are the remaining memory of a land where Kings and Queens wrote some of the most important chapters in the history of France. The majority are UNESCO World Heritage sites, and from one castle to the next, this rich history is unveiled.

In terms of nature, the forests and marshland in the Sologne are a real playground worth a visit for lovers of outdoor activities. Holidays in the region offer an unrivalled tranquillity, and include heritage visits, tours of local producers and nature site visits.

THE SURROUNDING CASTLES

Chambord Castle

8 km

Chambord is the largest and most prestigious of the Renaissance Castles, and is a real jewel in the crown of French architecture, as well as nature thanks to its 5,500 ha of grounds with deer and wild boars, and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Accessible by bike from the campsite through a forest trail, this is a must-visit site when you stay at Huttopia Les Châteaux! Chambord can also be visited on horse-back or boat, and is home to vegetable gardens and observation posts for deer. The site has a wide range of visits and activities on offer.

Cheverny Castle

10 km

Built in a classic style in the 17th Century, this magnificent furnished monument served as inspiration for Moulinsart Castle which was the home to Captain Haddock in the Tintin adventures. You will revel in taking a stroll through its wonderful grounds and taking in the widely-diverse flower garden. The castle can also be visited by bike from the campsite along the cycle path. And be sure to visit the Tintin exhibit, with the kennels which house around a hundred Anglo-French hunting dogs.

Beauregard Castle

15 km

Renowned for its “Portrait Gallery”, measuring some 27 metres in length with 327 portraits, the Beauregard Castle is enchanting due to its landscaped gardens and unique collection reciting some 315 years of French history. The portraits showcase some of the most important people in the political history of Europe, where many nationalities come together.

Blois Castle

20 km

With its luxurious furnishings and décor, the Royal Castle in Blois is one of the most important in the Loire Valley, thanks to its architectural heritage and important past. Having been the official residence of 7 kings and 10 queens of France as well as being at the forefront of the history of art, the building is surprisingly urban and located in the fortified centre of Blois, the capital of Loir-et-Cher with its significant heritage. A must-visit!

Villesavin Castle

Nestled in the heart of the valley of kinds, this smaller castle is just a 15-minute bike ride from the campsite and plays host to a large number of activities to be enjoyed by the whole family including a wedding museum, a museum for horse-drawn carriages, a small farm and also organises a treasure hunt for children on the castle grounds.

This estate is home to the castle (15th-19th Century), its gardens designed by Henri Duchêne as well as the International Garden Festival (late April to mid-October).

Amboise Castle

53 km

This Renaissance Castle, which was a Palace used by the Kings of France, is also home to a statue of the iconic Leonardo da Vinci. It offers a 360-degree panoramic view over the Loire Valley which is a World Heritage Site. Just a few kilometres from Amboise village lies the Clos-Lucé Caste, which was home to the great Leonardo da Vinci.

Chenonceaux Castle

A highly original castle due to its design (as it straddles the Cher River), as well as its former residents as it was loved, administered and protected by women, including Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de’ Medici. This “Castle of the Dames” is the most visited in France after Versailles!

Standing proudly between forests and rivers, the small town of Bracieux is highly traditional and well worth a visit. With its wonderful village square, its medieval markets and artisanal marketplace, the town still brings in visitors from far and wide. During a visit, be sure to stop off at the Max Vauché chocolate-maker, who is a master-craftsman of France, and you can even learn to make your own chocolates and take your creations with you.

In Blois, be sure to visit the Robert-Houdin Magic Museum, which is full of mysteries specialising in illusion and sleight of hand. Delve into a legendary universe with live events, magic collections and optical illusions; learn all about the history of magic, the life and works of famous magician Robert Houdin and a host of other surprises… Enchantment for kids and grown-ups!
